Eastern Asturias

Thanks to its location, you can easily access the eastern area of Asturias from Hotel Puerta del Oriente: Llanes, Picos de Europa, Cangas de Onís, Covadonga, Cabrales, Ribadesella. You can also access the western area of Cantrabria in a short period of time: Potes, Comillas, Santillana del Mar, San Vicente de la Barquera... The eastern area of Asturias keeps all the richness of the rural culture. There, you can find small villages that are completely adapted to the modern times without losing the charm of the country.

        Arts, culture and nature
There are a series of beaches of white sand and crystal-clear water that stretch within the Llanes Council. In many of them, the natural phenomenon called bufones can be observed. The sea seems to breathe and even roar when forming jets more than 20 meters high.

Some of these beaches have been awarded the blue flag, like the beach of La Franca, that is only 3 km away from Hotel Puerta del Oriente and is part of the Protected Landscape of the Eastern Coast of Asturias.

When visiting the coast, you must not forget: Tazones, Lastres, Ribadesella and Llanes, with the Cubos de la Memoria, of Ibarrola.

For the lovers of nature, the landscape of Asturias offers spectacular views such as: the Picos de Europa, the Cares, the Santuario de Covadonga (a small Christian sanctuary surrounded by history), and we cannot forget the visit to the Lagos de Covadonga lakes and the mine of Buferrera.

The lovers of prehistoric art can visit the Pindal caves -the closest ones- or the Cueva de Tito Bustillo. And in Cantabria, we can find a unique cave: the Cueva delSoplao.

Finally, there is a big variety of museums, where you will be able to find a small part of our history. For example, the MUJA (Jurassic Museum of Asturias), the mysterious Ídolo de Peña Tú, the Ethnographic Museum of the East of Asturias-Porrúa (that recreates a traditional hotel from Asturias with all kind of details), the Archive of Indianos of Colombres, etc…

Hotel Puerta del Oriente´s location will allow you to enjoy a great variety of cultural and natural attractions and will afford you the chance to practice an active tourism.
